"It’s all about the right connections"

About Techno-broker

My name is Richard Bijlard

After having worked for multinationals and startups in the electronics- and advanced materials industry for over 20 years, I decided to start my own company in 2010, focussing on the networks around high-tech innovation. Due to the complexity of high-tech solutions, innovation nowadays is always a team effort, combining the expertise of many partners. It’s often a problem to come up with suitable partners, especially when they are active outside of the regular scope of your own playfield.

With Techno-broker, I am active as a networker, specialised in a number of playing fields and technologies, focussed on connecting various parties. Representing parties with various backgrounds and products in an ecosystem has proven to be very efficient and effective: for one of my customers I’m scouting at events for new partners and technologies, other customers ask me to represent them at their booth or by giving a presentation at events.

Technology Trendwatcher and Speaker

Traveling over the world and visiting companies, universities, institutes and events, I'm staying up to date with the latest trends in technology. Regularly I'm asked to do lectures and presentations on subjects like the history and development of Eindhoven ecosystem, Lean Startup or innovative technologies and -applications.

Specialist Coach

Working in the SME1/2 project of the European Union, I’m coaching a number of international technology scale-ups. Activities include: tuning/adjusting business models and internal organisational setup, contractual issues (a.o. with sales channel partners like agents or distributors), setting up marketing communications and event activities.

Areas of activities

As it’s impossible to be a specialist in everything, I’m focussing on a number of specialised areas and related technologies. The figure underneath gives a schematic overview.

Since 2010, I’ve been very active in the world of medical and biotech, where both micro-electronics and photonics technologies are widely used for equipment as well as for a variety of consumables. Advanced lab-on-chip applications use microfluidics technologies in consumables which are created out of a whole host of materials (glass, plastics, silicon, paper,…) and feature a variety of specialised coatings. My network in this industry might be very useful for you!

One of the most successful applications of (power)electronics is electrical charging for automotive. Acting as business developer for one of my customers, I’m very involved in the field of electrical mobility (fast charging, direct solar charging, V2G applications,…), regularly visiting conferences and international events.

The fast growing Internet of Things (IoT) playfield acts more and more as a glue in today’s society, connecting all kind of applications together and creating new business opportunities for smart solutions. As an active designer and builder of for example sensor applications, I’m very familiar with both the technology (platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, ESP8266 and wireless communication via WiFi, Bluetooth, LoRaWAN, etc.) as well as the resulting opportunities and business cases.

Affecting everyone’s life, Smart buildings, -homes and -cities combine innovative, new technologies and materials, mobility concepts and radically disruptive business plans. With Techno-broker BV, I’m active as SME partner in the OPZuid/Stimulus ‘innovation Space Smart Cities’ project (click here for more information), coaching students of the Technical University Eindhoven (TU/e) and connecting companies, students and Smart City projects like Brainport Smart District.
